About Us
Country Creatives Podcast
Country Creatives is a podcast for and about the incredible creative people living throughout our regional areas, who are traversing the many stages of creating a business around what they love and getting paid for it.
Our Goals and Vision
Country Creatives was started to help regionally based creatives thrive in their chosen endeavour. We believe that no matter where you’re from or what your creative practice looks like, the only limit to your personal success and joy is within you. Our overarching objective is to liberate creatives from self-imposed limitations, equip them with essential business skills, to share the vision of a world where every creative individual experiences ongoing personal and professional growth. We aim to foster a culture where we not only celebrate and champion each other’s uniqueness but also share the invaluable lessons we’ve gained along the way, in the hope that they may inspire and benefit someone else.
Who We Are
We are far from being the global experts or the fonts of all knowledge but what are great at is talking, listening and uncovering the gold in everyday conversations. We’re a couple of inquisitive creatives seeking to raise the tide of the world around us.
Our Audience
From the stats, we know our audience is spread out all over Australia with up to 20% tuning in from overseas. This legendary bunch is made up of artists, creatives and entrepreneurs who want to learn from the stories of other creative professionals, grow in their own creative journey and be inspired to do more of what they love.
Meet The Team
Caleb Maxwell
Caleb Maxwell is a professional talker. That looks like being a business and communication expert, a public speaker and a host of 3 podcasts. He is the co-founder and creative director of Hebron Films, a video production company that helps regional businesses perform on the world stage by creating strategic online video content. He and the Hebron Films team work directly with businesses as their go-to video communication experts.
Caleb’s love for community has led him to serve in many different organisations, including the Army Reserves, National charities such as Southern Cross Kids Camps and many other local community organisations.
In 2020, Caleb helped the City Of Greater Bendigo develop their 4-year creative industry strategy and served as an industry advisor on the steering committee for a 3-year term. He’s also been a member of the advisory committee for the Emporium Creative Hub, helping it become the heart of regional Victoria’s creative industries.
Reece Hendy
Besides having a magnetic personality, Reece is a qualified graphic designer with a passion for all things creative. Reece was fascinated by street art from a young age and decided early on that he wanted to ‘draw for a living’. While studying graphic design at La Trobe University, he discovered the joy and power of collaboration, through founding his own magazine where he worked with over 30 artists, photographers and illustrators. Following his studies, Reece worked for a number of creative agencies in various creative and strategic roles.
The Nacho Station brand was launched in 2012 as a ‘side hustle’. After joining an internal marketing team (Apiam Animal Health) as a multidisciplinary creative in 2015, the part-time roll enabled him to start Nacho Station as a ‘propper’ side hustle. By 2019 the side hustle had become a full-on hustle, which is when Reece took the plunge and, in his own words, “went full time nacho”.
Ever since, Reece has made good progress in his quest to make Bendigo a street art hotspot and is now turning his attention to towns around Central Victoria … and hasn’t ruled out taking over the world after that! Ultimately, however, what gets him up in the morning is seeing how collaborative, creative projects can engage, uplift and reinvigorate communities.
